The International Maritime Organization has mandated emission reductions of 50% for all vessels by 2050, and some countries have declared a target for net-zero shipping emissions in the same time frame. Green Navis is making some of the latest green technologies available to the industry in order to help shipping companies reach these targets.
EFFICIENCY EXISTING SHIP INDEX
EEXI was introduced as an index by the IMO to calculate a ship’s emissions
An index attained once in a vessel’s lifetime, the EEXI was introduced as an index by the IMO to calculate a ship’s emissions. Its calculation involves technical attributes such as the ship’s type, carrying capacity and propulsion method.
CARBON INTENSITY INDICATOR
To calculate greenhouse emissions and the more stringent Carbon Intensity Indicator
Aimed at vessels over 5,000 in gross tonnage transporting, the stringent Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) to measure goods transport emissions according to cargo capacity and nautical mile. The CII rating will need to be improved over time as regulations become stricter in the next few years.
ENGINE POWER LIMITATION
Helps establish the ideal power and speed needed to reduce your vessel’s fuel use and CO2 emissions
This important sustainability index helps establish the ideal power and speed needed to reduce a vessel’s fuel use and CO2 emissions. By designating a semi-permanent value for power output and limiting engine power, operators can reign in on their emissions and monitor them more easily.
The maritime sector's share of CO2 emissions is growing, so is dependency of trade on shipping. We are here to reverse the figures.
or close to that is what shipping contributes to global carbon emissions
by 2050 is the target reduction of annual greenhouse gas emissions set by the IMO
is the projected figure of global greenhouse gas emissions by 2050 from shipping
approximately of all global trade is transported by ships
million tons in 2018, up from 701 million tons in 2012, represent emissions from international shipping
Green Navis is built on the premise of furthering sustainability in the shipping industry. Our purpose is to introduce innovative solutions that reduce emissions and bring palpable benefits to the environment. All our services are guided by norms and regulations such as the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL) and the IMO.
The climate situation worldwide is an urgent one, requiring the emissions-intensive shipping industry to reinvent itself. As IMO and MARPOL regulations become stricter and more challenging practically every month, shipping companies are looking to monitor and improve their sustainability through Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) performance.
Done correctly, and with Green Navis’ technologies and reporting tools, shipping companies following ESG protocols can look forward to two major benefits:
a system that will ultimately save on costs and improve the environmental performance of its activities.
its attractiveness for clients who seek the company’s services or investors who want to enter into strategic partnerships.
At Green Navis we consider that the shipping industry plays an important role in achieving all the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals. On a more micro level, we are focusing as a company on the following SDGs
